Blinking during an energy / Reiki session
When someone’s eyes start blinking rapidly during energy work, it’s usually a sign that their system is processing and releasing energy, especially around the head and nervous system. This kind of physical response is very common in deep healing sessions and can have several layers of meaning:
1. Energy Release Through the Nervous System
- The eyes and eyelids are directly connected to the nervous system and the brain through cranial nerves.
- Blinking can occur when stagnant or blocked energy begins to move, especially in the head, third eye, or crown area.
- It’s almost like a pressure valve releasing — the body is letting go of tension and recalibrating.
Clues to look for:
- If the blinking starts suddenly and intensely, it often signals a breakthrough release.
- If it’s gentle and rhythmic, it may be a sign of deep relaxation and integration.
2. Activation of the Third Eye
- The area around the eyes is closely linked to the third eye chakra (Ajna).
- Rapid blinking can indicate that this chakra is opening or activating, allowing new insights, intuition, or spiritual perception to come online.
- Some people experience inner light flashes or visions at the same time — the blinking is a physical reflection of that inner activity.
3. Emotional Clearing
- Tears and blinking often go hand-in-hand because the eyes are a channel for emotional release.
- If someone is processing old grief, trauma, or suppressed feelings, the blinking may precede or accompany tears or deep sighing.
- This is very healthy — it’s the body’s way of clearing emotional debris.
4. Resistance or Overwhelm
Occasionally, blinking can reflect subconscious resistance:
- If the person feels vulnerable or unsafe, their system might try to “shield” them by blinking or fluttering the eyes.
- In this case, the blinking might look tight, tense, or erratic, rather than flowing naturally.
A Mystical Reason – Could it Be a Spiritual Download?
Some believe that random bodily sensations, especially in the head or face, may be signals of:
- Energetic shifts or upgrades
- Downloads from spirit guides or higher consciousness
- A call to pay attention to your inner world
- A warning or insight trying to surface
If you believe you’re energetically sensitive, this could be your subconscious or intuitive self trying to get your attention.
Ask yourself:
- What was I thinking about when it happened?
- Has it been happening during moments of decision-making or reflection?
- Am I ignoring a gut feeling about something?
Want to Tune Into the Message?
Here’s a quick grounding exercise:
- Close your eyes, breathe deeply 3 times.
- Ask internally: “What is this sensation trying to tell me?”
- Notice any words, images, or feelings that arise—without judging.
- Write it down. Patterns often emerge. Maybe you are just tired and need a nap. 🙂
How To Work With It If You are on Your Own
- Pause and Observe:
- Notice what is happening around you when the blinking intensifies. Notice any physical or emotional sensations.
- Soften and Ground:
- If the blinking seems overwhelming, bring a low-frequency fork to the soles of the feet or ask a trusted friend or family member to place your hands on your shoulders to anchor them.
- Encourage Release:
- Let your body know that blinking is a natural part of the process and you can allow it to happen.
- Sometimes saying, “My body knows exactly how to release — I can just let it move through me,” brings comfort and deepens the healing.
For Energy Healing / Reiki Practitioners:
Here’s a gentle tuning fork protocol designed to support clearing energy in the head — especially when you see rapid blinking — while keeping the person grounded and safe. It combines both release and integration, which is important because strong third eye or crown activations can sometimes feel overwhelming.
Tuning Fork Protocol for Eye Blinking & Head Clearing
If you don’t have Weighted Tuning Forks – use your hands on the body.
For the Unweighted Tuning Forks – use your hands off the body.
If you don’t have these specific frequencies, just use any weighted or unweighted tuning forks. Your intention to clear the energy is the most important part of this protocol.
1. Create a Grounding Foundation (Feet First)
Before you touch the head area, anchor their energy so the release has a safe path downward.
- Fork Choice:
- Weighted 128 Hz tuning fork, or another low, deeply resonant frequency.
- Where to Place:
- Start by gently placing the vibrating fork on the balls of the feet (both sides, one at a time).
- Then move to the heels, holding for a few seconds each time.
- Duration:
- 30–60 seconds per point, alternating between feet.
Purpose:
This signals to the body: “You are safe. Energy can move down and out through the earth.”
It also begins calming the nervous system before working higher up.
2. Clear Stagnant Energy Around the Head
Once the foundation is set, you can safely begin clearing.
- Fork Choice:
- Weighted 256 Hz fork for physical clearing,
- or unweighted 528 Hz or 512 Hz for more subtle energy clearing.
- Where to Work:
- Third Eye Point: Between the brows, lightly hover or gently touch (if the client is comfortable).
- Temples: Place lightly on the temples, one side at a time.
- Base of Skull (Occiput): Hold at the indentation where the skull meets the neck.
Technique:
- Activate the fork and listen with your hands — notice if the vibration feels smooth or “muddy.”
- If you sense heaviness, hold the fork until you feel a shift, or sweep it outward and away to “clear” the space.
Purpose:
Helps release built-up energetic congestion that can cause rapid blinking, headaches, or inner pressure.
3. Integrate and Balance
After clearing, always seal the energy field and bring balance.
- Fork Choice: Unweighted 432 Hz or 528 Hz — calming, harmonizing frequencies.
- Where to Work:
- Start at the heart center, holding the fork just above the chest.
- Slowly move up to hover over the third eye, then above the crown.
- Finish by sweeping down the centerline of the body, all the way to the feet.
Purpose:
This smooths out the energy flow and prevents dizziness, spaciness, or emotional overwhelm.
4. Close with Strong Grounding
Finish where you began — at the feet.
- Option A: Place the 128 Hz fork on the feet again for a few final holds.
- Option B: Use your hands to gently press their feet or ankles, visualizing roots growing deep into the earth.
Words you might say:
“You are fully here, safe, and supported. Anything released has returned to the earth to be transmuted.”
Extra Tip for Intense Blinking
If the blinking becomes very rapid or feels overwhelming for the client:
- Pause work near the head immediately.
- Return focus to the lower body — feet, legs, hips.
Use low frequencies and slow breathing to help them regulate.
