Crystal therapy is an alternative healing practice that involves the use of crystals and gemstones to promote healing and well-being. The idea behind crystal therapy is based on the belief that crystals have specific properties and energies that can affect the body, mind, and emotions.

My experience is that in the non-mystic world, most people find crystals pretty, but very few can feel anything from them. I personally feel more drawn to some crystals more than others. I can also feel that using the crystals in a chakra clearing seems to magnify the energy. But, I do not feel the crystals vibrating in my hands like some healers claim. I also like to use the black grounding stones to support the absorbing of negative energy released in a session. The theory is that similar to how black stones absorb the energy from the sun and make them much hotter compared to white stone, black stones can absorb negative energy and transmutes it to the earth.

Proponents of crystal therapy believe that different crystals have unique vibrations and energies that can interact with the human energy field, also known as the aura. It is believed that by placing specific crystals on or near certain areas of the body, the energy of the crystals can harmonize and balance the energy in the body, promoting healing and reducing symptoms of various conditions.

Additionally, crystal therapy is often used in conjunction with meditation, visualization, and other relaxation techniques to further enhance the healing effects of the crystals. Some proponents of crystal therapy also believe that the use of crystals can stimulate and activate chakras, which are believed to be energy centers in the body that correspond to different physical, emotional, and spiritual functions.

Commonly Used Crystals

There are many different types of crystals that are used in crystal therapy, each with their own unique properties and energies. Here are some of the most commonly used crystals in crystal therapy:

  1. Clear Quartz: This is one of the most versatile crystals and is believed to have cleansing and balancing properties. It is often used to enhance the effects of other crystals and to amplify energy.
  2. Amethyst: This purple crystal is believed to have calming and soothing properties, and is often used to promote relaxation and reduce anxiety.
  3. Rose Quartz: This pink crystal is associated with love, compassion, and emotional healing. It is often used to promote self-love and to improve relationships with others.
  4. Citrine: This yellow crystal is associated with abundance, prosperity, and self-confidence. It is often used to promote success and to increase self-esteem.
  5. Black Tourmaline: This black crystal is believed to have grounding and protective properties, and is often used to absorb negative energy and promote emotional stability.
  6. Selenite: This white crystal is associated with clarity, purification, and spiritual growth. It is often used to promote mental clarity and to enhance meditation.
  7. Hematite: This metallic black crystal is associated with grounding and balancing energy. It is often used to reduce stress, anxiety, and negative emotions.

These are just a few examples of the many different crystals that are used in crystal therapy. There are hundreds of different types of crystals and everyone seems to allocate their own personalities to the crystals as a quick Google search will tell you.

The Placebo Effect is Powerful

While there is limited scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of crystal therapy, many people report feeling a sense of relaxation, calmness, and emotional well-being after using crystals.

And what you believe to be true, is true.

The placebo effect refers to the phenomenon where a person’s belief in a treatment or therapy can have a positive impact on their symptoms, even if the treatment itself is inert or has no active ingredients. The placebo effect is thought to be the result of a complex interaction between the person’s beliefs, expectations, and the context in which the treatment is administered.

The Conscious Healing Institute has committed to rigorous scientific testing of conscious healing methods and found that the placebo effect is basically the body’s innate ability to heal based on a belief that it can and choses to. In fact, in one study, 70% of mock weight loss surgeries had a successful outcome. In these surgeries, a cut was made on the patient’s abdomen and the patient wasn’t told whether or not they had the weight loss surgery. Regardless, the belief that they had the weight loss surgery was enough to elicit real change.
